Interview with Sarah Haynes

Interview with Sarah Haynes

Before we start the new series of Mummy Meditations on the 12th January, we will be introducing the members of the team! We hope you enjoy these informal interviews and feel like you know us more – we are all just mums trying to survive this chaotic life and stay close to God in the mayhem.

First up is our newest Mummy Meditations Champion – Sarah.

Introduce yourself in 10 words or less

Sarah, wife, mother, physio, trustee, blogger, Jesus and cake lover!

Tell us a bit about your family

We have 2 girls aged 8 and 5 and we live in a village just outside of Hull in East Yorkshire.

How does Christianity play a part in your family life?

Through needing His grace and wisdom and lots of it!!! Raising a family in faith is not easy and so I continually need and trust Him daily as we navigate family life together. I love how He is with us all though, even in the middle of the mess and mundane! There is no ‘one size fits all’….our family faith walk is as unique and as individual as we are! When I first I realised this, it brought a whole new level of freedom which was great.

How did you find out about Mummy Meditations?

I thought you would ask me that and I have to confess that I just don’t remember! However I will admit that I have spent far too much of my life on Facebook, but in the Lord’s kindness it must have lead me to here at some point…but quite how I just don’t know sorry!

What do you like about Mummy Meditations?

The simplicity of it with just one verse a week! I also love the community aspect and the encouragement and support that it brings.

What excited you about being on the Mummy Meditations Team?

In all honesty it was the accountability and challenge that this will bring! Because I had actually gotten behind with it all and so I felt the call to not only get back on-board but to actually get involved. And now that both my girls are at school, I feel that I have a bit more time and head space to focus, enjoy my writing and take up this new and exciting challenge!

Do you have any random hobbies or talents?

Hmmm…..nothing comes to mind re. talents (!) but I suppose I have a random hobby in that I have started to collect any 50ps with anything other than the usual design on. I always put a few in my girls stockings at Christmas as they enjoy finding and collecting them too and so I hope that this will be a nice tradition, keepsake and memory for them to enjoy for many years to come.

What is your claim to fame?

I don’t have any claim to fame sadly….as I always dreamed of being in the Guinness Book of Records as a kid but never made it! However only the other month I saw Frank Skinner in a petrol station on the way to my brother’s wedding, so I plucked up the courage to ask him for a surprise wedding video message for them on my phone which he happily obliged to do for me….so does that count?! Lol!
